They say the organe pineapple ice cream is a must eat before you die, I can say I tried it and I agree. It was very good. Iconic little ice cream shop, takes you back in time. Cheap prices, too!
Best place in Florence. Lowest prices around and some of the best food I've ever had. The atmosphere is phenomenal, I can't even describe it. All of the servers have a smile on their face and are eager to take your order.

I was born and raised in the Shoals, I don't know a single person that was that doesn't have memories at this place. Even my grandparents had memories of this place when they were little kids in the 1920's. My favorites: Orange-Pineapple Ice Cream, Banana Sandwich, Oh my Gosh(been a while, not sure if they still make these), Grilled Cheese with a pickle. Anyway, historically...this place has seen the evolution of the South/Shoals area for over a 100 years now. Nothing fancy and it just seems so perfect that way.
I always get the pimento cheese sandwich and chips. The diner has a 1950's feel and is usually packed. Service is outstanding and food choices reflect the traditions of a small university town.
This place is a dream come true! I love ice cream and I love great service; this place is all that and more. The environment is antique and fun. I didn't try the lunch but I did try a chocolate milkshake that was served in a big ole glass! I seen a guy walk out eating an ice cream cone and he was tearing that thing up! I knew I had to give it a try. This ice cream parlor represents Florence so well! Right on!
5 Stars for ambience and feeling like I'm sitting in a soda shop in Mayberry 3 Stars for the food itself. The chicken salad, ham salad, etc. are pasty like they're made in the food processor. I love a good chili dog, and mine was not very good. Really, it's more about the experience than the food. With the space being so small, tables need to turn quickly, and I think the quality suffers in order to feed the quantity. But what do I know?!? They've been in business for over 100 years, so they must be doing something right!
